The picture on the cover of the 1st Congress of the ISN
is a copy of a magnificent lithography (look at water texture and
buildings volumes) by Armand Curvillier, a very active Geneva lithographer
around mid XIX century. Lemercier at Paris printed it for Briquet and
Son, editor at Geneva. Its size is approximately 16 x 13.5 cm and the
lithography itself is 11.7 x 8.8 cm. Printed below the picture is: 'Ad
Cuvillier Lith - Briquet & fils à Genève - Imp. Lemercier Paris'.
The handwritten title is 'Evian (Lac de Genève)'. French speaking Swiss who at
present say also 'Lac Léman' and have used 'Lac de Genève' in the past. |

The lithography is framed together with three others. Though it is
not recorded, I deduce a painting by J. Du Bois (XVIII century) inspired
it because in the same frame there is a second, very similar black and
white lithography, also by Curvillier, where it is printed 'd'après J. Du
Bois'. |
